River of Fire (written by Stan Meissner and Glen Burtnik*, ©1992)
My life you hold in your heart
I look for the light, I wait in the dark
Burning emotions, I’m drawn to the flame
Chasing the shadows that call out your name
Searching for some kind of escape, I find my way right here to this place
‘Cause the night has no end
All of my life my dreams run wild, now I stand alone in this river of fire
Days of despair and nights of desire, I wait for you in this river of fire
I still remember the look in your eyes
I wish I knew then that it was goodbye
I try to fight it but I know I can’t win
Sometimes your dreams just get lost in the wind
Something beyond all time and space leads me right back here to this space
At the edge of this world
All of my life my dreams run wild, now I stand alone in this river of fire
Days of despair and nights of desire, I wait for you in this river of fire
Burn for you… burn for you… burn for you… burn for you…
All of my life my dreams run wild, now I stand alone in this river of fire
Days of despair and nights of desire, I wait for you in this river of fire
*The original composition had some differences in the first verse; I transcribed the lyrics as Benjamin sings them.

Robertson Brothers later covered this song in their Symmetry (1994) album. It was a very excellent rendition by them. Check it out 🙂

Very nice! Hearing those different lyrics made me recall what Glen Burtnick said about Ben changing it up: https://sweetpurplejune.wordpress.com/2018/03/05/in-other-words-32/

This is the lyrics of Robertson Brothers version that I transcribed.
Night lights up the ghost in my heart
I watch them burn as I stare in the dark
Listening emotion I’m torn to the flame
Caught in the shadows that call out your name
I’m Searching for some kind of escape
I find my way right here to this place
Where night has no end
All of my life my dreams run wild, now I stand alone in this river of fire
Through Days of despair and nights of desire, I wait for you in this river of fire
I still remember the look in your eyes
I wish I knew then that it was goodbye
I try to fight it but I know I can’t win
Sometimes your dreams just get lost in the wind
Something beyond all time and space
Leads me right back here to this space
At the edge of the world
All of my life my dreams run wild, now I stand alone in this river of fire
Through days of despair and nights of desire, I wait for you in this river of fire
Burn for you… burn for you… burn for you… burn for you…
All of my life my dreams run wild, now I stand alone in this river of fire
Through days of despair and nights of desire, I wait for you in this river of fire

maybe you can help 🙂

Hm… it sounds like “I’m wrestling emotions, I’m torn to the flame’ … ?

I think it’s correct. Must admit that Geoff accent was a bit of hard to transcribe.
I also admit that at first I saw the words “Wrestling” It’s sounds like a songs about Wrestler who got a heartbreak LOL.
Anyway you can post a transcribed version of this one on your blog. It would be greatly to see people known this song more, both of Robertson Brothers and Benjamin Orr version.
