Quoting Benjamin

“What attracted us to Boston? It was an entirely different city, and Ric and I, neither one of us had ever been here before. When I showed up I came in at about three in the morning and drove right over a Rt. 2 hill in Cambridge, (laughs) and it just looked so stunning and I said to myself  ‘this is the place I have to live.’ But I liked the city so much. And the next night after I got here we played out. So that about clinched it. And the people in town were mostly young people and it was a great place for a musician to be.” — interview by A. J. Wachtel of The Beat, October 1987

  1. Cambridge is a cool ‘hood. Incidentally, that statement kind of reflects how I feel about Cleveland. I probably wouldn’t have wanted to live there 30 years ago, but today it’s a very cool city with a good vibe.

  3. Hi Donna. We have chatted a few times and spoke about my time spent with Ben. I loved Boston also, that is where I stayed with Ben and Kris. I can remember that it was a big old house. We went to the debut party at a hotel but I can’t remember the name of it. My stepbrothers were related to Ben’s wife and I have not talked to her in a long time. I remember the event being recorded by TV cameras and we were standing at the front of the stage. I sure would like to find out how to get a lead on the tapes. Lets try and get some info on the party. It was put on by Elektra Records around March 1978. I would like to work with you on this and see if we can find the tapes. It was in a Big Hotel in Boston. Hope to chat with you soon. Respectfully, Mike.
