It reminds me of him.

This beautiful song has been a favorite of mine for many years, but today it is reminding me of how Benjamin’s voice, music, and image have provided an escape for me during this crazy time of sheltering at home and trying to keep my loved ones safe and healthy from COVID-19. ❤

“I close my eyes then I drift away

Into the magic night, I softly say

A silent prayer like dreamers do

Then I fall asleep to dream my dreams of you

In dreams I walk with you, in dreams I talk to you

In dreams you’re mine all of the time

We’re together in dreams, in dreams”

— Roy Orbison, “In Dreams”

  2. Interesting, I have also been going to a lot of videos of Ben and the CARS for about 2 weeks now. Somehow, in this crazy time, I am finding comfort in the memories those videos invoke for me. I’ve always been a fan of the CARS. I believe I was 10 when their first album came out and I was a fan all through the 80’s. I was fortunate enough to be able to see them perform in Tampa in 1987. Little did I know then that it would be the last time they would all tour & perform together. I was so happy when they FINALLY got inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2018 (soooo overdue)! Anyway, in my YouTube walk down memory lane, I came across a video in which Joe Milliken was being interviewed on a radio station and he mentioned a story about Ben being a big fan of Roy Orbison. Apparently, Ben went to see him in concert sometime in the 80’s and when he saw him backstage, he asked for Roy’s autograph. I just love that he, a famous rock star, wanted Roy’s autograph! I also found it interesting because both men had incredible voices, but also seemed to have a low-key, humble manner about them. And, then I see that you just posted this!

One final note, I saw a post that Ben’s son graduated from college last May. As a mother of a son who also graduated from college last May, that just made me smile.
