Quoting Benjamin

On recording The Lace: “When I went down to the studio, I was totally on my own. I had no influences… I don’t think anybody who sits down to write a song wants to be thought of as pulling off somebody else’s material.” — from “Benjamin Orr: The Cars’ Mr. Casual Steps Out” by Rob Tannenbaum, Musician Magazine, March 1987

  1. Finished Let’s Go! Benjamin Orr and The Cars by Joe Milliken been thinking about it and I enjoyed the book I was dreading where I knew we had to go. I have to say after some thought that I think Joe did a great job, and the way things happened were indeed tragic. I would have liked to hear a swan song Cars album, but two of the members are now forever gone. Ben was more ordinary than most might know, espeially since many people don’t even know about The Lace or that Ben Orr sang many of the hits fo the Cars. I also realized that I really never heard him speak until recently and it is interesting. Thanks for your dedication.
