Have just read tribute to Ric Ocasek by Bebe Buell and in it she says that Ric picks her up in his car after her getting very drunk after a gig and he says to her who’s goin to pick you up when you fall, who’s going to drive you home . So that song wasn’t about a drunk man in a bar as Ric had portrayed it was about his friend Bebe Buell and being concerned about her behaviour as a friend. I was blown away by that tribute. It showed a very caring Ric looking out for a friend. Off course Ric wanted to throw us off track about that as it was very personal feelings about a friend. A great tribute from Bebe Buell .

Yes! I read that, too, and found it very touching. ❤ Interestingly, Luis Aira (who produced Ric's videos and worked with him extensively, and is a very close family friend) wrote a Facebook post in which he related how Ric wrote the story about him. I imagine that the feelings Ric expressed in the song applied to many of his close friends, as we all have our ups and downs from time to time. It's precious!
