According to the book Let’s Go! Benjamin Orr and The Cars, Diane and Ben met in the fall of 1982. Diane was visiting a co-worker who lived across the street from Ben when Ben stopped in for a visit. The two were introduced and hit it off right away, in spite of their different backgrounds.
