In other words:

“Ben was just a terrific singer… he reminded me of Rutger Hauer but with a great voice! I didn’t know The Cars well in the early days, but got to know Ben a little bit in his post-Cars days. He was a great guy, very talented, and a real pro in the studio.” — Charlie Farren, Boston-area vocalist and guitar player, Let’s Go! Benjamin Orr and The Cars, by Joe Milliken

  1. What we all share is our mutual understanding of what a unique personality Ben had. Of all the celebrity rock musicians, he is one of the very few who never let fame go to his head, who always had his feet on the ground, loved family above all and appreciated the gifts he had. Thise are the human qualities that resonate with all his fans. His talent was huge, but it is his inner beauty and spirit that we embrace above all.. What courage and bravery he showed in those final months!.an inspiration to us all. Ben lived his short life with ultimate grace and style. Thank you Donna for sharing his journey with us. We LOVE your blog!! Norah

    1. I haven’t really written anything about that… I’m not sure exactly why they were never released. The majority of the songs were written by John Kalishes and Ben together in around 1993ish, and the two continued to work together through 1997, so I would think they had time to finalize things, but they didn’t. Maybe no interest from a label?

  2. That’s sad. The songs I have heard on YouTube that were supposed to be on his 2nd album are good. I especially like River of Fire. I’m new to this blog and have enjoyed reading past posts. I ordered “Let’s Go” last week and can’t wait to read it!
